Our nursery is based in a beautiful Victorian detached house in the lovely village of Kinver and has been part of the village community since 1996.
We use local resources to extend the children’s learning and development and we can regularly be seen in the park and in the library. The nursery supports local businesses where we purchase food items, our uniforms, have our photographs taken and supply items to the local charity shop. Staff and children attend Foley First School for meetings, stay and play days and to support learning opportunities for both staff and children.
As with all Ofsted registered childcare settings, we follow the statutory welfare and education requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage which ensures that our provision meets strict learning and development requirements and complies with care and welfare policies.
The Nursery came under new ownership in August 2013 and is now owned and run by a mother and daughter who both have extensive experience and qualifications in child care.
We also do ‘staff swaps’ where teachers work in our nursery for sessions & our staff work within the classrooms at Foley School. This facilitates smooth transitions for the children from nursery to school. For children not attending Foley, we of course liaise with their school of choice.
Debbie has a background in nursing, midwifery and health visiting. She currently practices as a Nursing Consultant/Expert Witness providing advice to the Courts on the care needs of adults and children who have suffered personal injuries or medical negligence. Debbie lives in Hagley is committed to further developing the nursery so that it becomes an ‘outstanding, first choice nursery for families’.
Debbie provides the supervision and leadership to the nursery management team and regularly visits the nursery to ensure that high standards are maintained. She oversees all the employment and health and safety practices in partnership with Peninsula Business Services to ensure that recruitment, employment and health & safety all meets the required standards.
Lucy has extensive experience in child care having worked in day nurseries, holiday clubs, after school clubs in addition to being a registered child minder. She works within the nursery to oversee all day to day practice. Lucy is passionate about children and has dreamt of owning her own nursery since she was at school. She “loves her job” and brings enthusiasm, creativity, fun and passion to the nursery. We have yet to find a child who doesn’t respond to her natural ability to engage with children.
Our staff team are also well qualified, competent, friendly, flexible and responsive to parent’s needs. They have a range of skills, knowledge and experience and there is a nice balance of ages. Many of our staff live in the village and it really feels like we are a large family with staff supporting not only the children but each other too.
Your child will be allocated a key worker when they first start at the nursery. They will get to know your child very well and will be responsible for ensuring that communication is ongoing with you. They will be your first point of contact and will arrange regular meetings with you to discuss your child’s progress and share their “learning journey” with you.
You will be asked to provide us with relevant information to enable your child to settle in quickly.
